Believe and Trust

By Mercedes Cedeño
"Believe" and "trust"--- two words that we say so many times in our life...

John 20:29
"Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

"Believe" and "trust"--- two words that we say so many times in our life, especially when we refer to them when speaking of our faith. We believe in God and in trying to be good people. Having the biblical verse John 3:16, we believe God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. What about trust for trust is how we respond to God. As I was reading Jn 20: 24-29, I said to myself, "I have felt like this."

I've doubted especially when people tell me something. I have experienced betrayal and insults in my life serving in a parish. It's in these situations that one doubts.

I must let it be known, however, that such times are also when it was all worthwhile, for it is when I've most trusted my Beloved God; there is power in being raised up again. To me doubt invites me to know that I can trust God more deeply.  When one experiences situations that truly take us to darkness it is then we must choose to trust God. Do you truly trust God?

Lord, when I am in doubt,  may I firmly choose to trust You."
